Natural Ways to Avoid Sweating
Although it can be embarrassing, sweating
is natural and good for you. It's your body's way of cooling you down
and getting rid of toxins. Some people sweat more than others, and in
hot or humid climates, you can't avoid sweating, but sometimes excessive
sweating can be a disorder called hyperhidrosis.
Antiperspirants and deodorants can make the
condition worse, and their strong chemicals can be damaging. There are
natural ways to cool down the body, remove the odors, and control the
sweating, which can be made from household ingredients.
Symptoms
Before you rush and try to find a solution by yourself, check with your
doctor. Excessive sweating can be a sign of illness or a disorder,
especially if you notice the following symptoms:
Visible sweating, drenching your clothes
Wet, moist palms and soles
Skin maceration (skin softening and breaking down)
Strong foot odor
Cracked and scaled skin
Natural home remedies that treat excessive sweating
Vinegar - Cure your sweating with both regular vinegar and apple cider
vinegar, which help flush out the body’s toxins. Take a mixture of 2
tablespoons of natural vinegar with one teaspoon apple cider vinegar
three times a day on an empty stomach, half an hour before a meal.
Tomato Juice -
Another solution is drinking a daily glass of freshly
squeezed tomato juice. The antioxidants in tomatoes eliminate many of
the toxins that usually come out via sweating. Tomatoes can also improve
blood circulation. If tomatoes are applied directly to the skin, they
act as an antiseptic and tighten the pores.
Potato - This old method is extremely
effective at reducing sweating in the underarms, neck, and feet,
although no-one knows exactly why. Slice a raw potato in half and rub
them in the underarms, on your feet or other sweaty areas of your body
before applying deodorant.
Wheatgrass Juice - Wheatgrass is rich in proteins and vitamin B6, B12, C
and folic acid. It can neutralize the acids and toxins present in the
blood, and the high concentration of vitamin B can reduce the sweat
glands' excessive production. Drinking a glass of wheatgrass juice every
day can settle the nerves and reduce excessive sweating.
Tea Bags for Tannic Acid - Tannic acid is found primarily in tea and can
help cool down your body. Its astringent and antiperspirant properties
can prevent the start of excessive perspiration. Let several bags of tea
sit in a bowl of boiling water. When the water cools, soak both your
hands and legs in this solution for half an hour. You can do this daily.
Witch Hazel - This herb is a natural astringent and acts as an
antiperspirant when applied to the skin. It gently dries the skin in the
sweaty body area, preventing excess bacteria growth on the skin. This
way, it not only treats the perspiration but also prevents infection.
This method is particularly effective for facial sweating. You can also
use witch hazel tea to treat general perspiration.
Cornstarch and Baking Soda - Make a natural
deodorant by mixing corn starch with baking soda and water. This paste
can be applied directly to the skin and washed off with water after half
an hour. Clean the skin thoroughly before applying the paste. You may
add essential oil for added fragrance. This mixture will absorb both the
sweat as well as the odor.
Grapes - Grapes are filled with antioxidants, which eliminate toxins and
naturally cool your body down by regulating your internal temperature,
stopping your body from overheating and sweating. Drink a glass of grape
juice or eat 10-15 grapes daily to help with perspiration.
Tea Tree Oil - The tea tree is a natural astringent, and thin layers of
its essential oil can be applied to parts of the body with excess
sweating. This is particularly effective for sweaty feet, which tend to
develop fungi. Tea tree oil is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal and can
dry the skin out, preventing the growth of bacteria as well as fighting
fungal infections.
Sage tea - Sage tea taken 3-4 times daily can greatly reduce sweating
due to its large quantities of magnesium and vitamin B, which control
the sweat glands activity and, in turn, reduce excessive underarm
sweating. Boil sage in hot water and let the leaves brew until the drink
cools down naturally. Avoid using sage if you suffer from epilepsy or
high blood pressure.
Coconut Oil - Coconut oil can eliminate the bacteria causing the sweaty
odor because it contains lauric acid. However, the oil can stain your
clothes, so use a small amount and massage it into the sweaty area until
the skin has properly absorbed it. The light fragrance also keeps you
fresh all day. You can combine coconut oil with baking soda to create a
natural deodorant. Combine 3 teaspoons of coconut oil with 3 teaspoons
baking soda and 2 teaspoons of shea butter, and add a few drops of
essential oil. Apply this paste to your skin daily.

Bonus: Tips that help prevent excessive
sweat
Keep hydrated - Drink plenty of water and other fluids throughout the
day. When you are hydrated, your body stays at a low temperature, and
you sweat less. Water regulates your body temperature, flushing out
toxins via urination.
Stress, nervousness, anxiety, and tension - All of these can trigger
excessive sweating. Certain emotions and memories automatically activate
the sweat glands. Practicing biofeedback and relaxation techniques can
help you control some of your body’s automatic functions, such as blood
pressure and heartbeat, helping you relax and reducing nervous or
emotional sweating.
Diet - Some foods stimulate your sweat glands, such as spicy curries,
sugary desserts, peppers and chilies, and any dishes with high
concentrations of hydrogenated oils. Garlic and onion can worsen your
body odor. Processed foods can trigger the sweat glands as they often
contain chemical toxins that the body tries to eliminate by sweating
them out.
Clothing – The materials and styles you wear can increase or minimize
sweating. Synthetic materials trap heat due to their tight weave, while
natural fibers, like cotton, linen, hemp, silk or wool, are more
breathable, allowing for better airflow. Looser fitting clothing also
allows for better circulation, which can keep your body temperature
down.
Reduce consumption of caffeine – Caffeine
over-stimulates the central nervous system, triggering the release of
adrenaline into the body. This results in your internal temperature
rising.
Lose excess weight – Extra body fat acts as an insulator, increasing the
body’s internal temperature and thereby increasing the body’s sweat
production.
Shave the armpits and groin area – Sweat accumulates in the hair,
promoting bacteria growth, which causes a foul odor. Reducing moisture
and preventing it from building up also allows more air to reach the
skin, cooling it and making it easier for sweat to evaporate.
